The five Vancouver Coastal Health urgent and primary care centres are open until 10 p.m. Monday to Saturday, which is later than almost every private walk-in clinic in the city. On Sundays they close at 5 p.m. Private clinics typically close between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Is any clinic in Vancouver open 24 hours?
No walk-in clinic in Vancouver is open 24 hours. Overnight, your options are an emergency department — Vancouver General, St. Paul's, Mount Saint Joseph or BC Children's — or HealthLink BC at 8-1-1, which is staffed by registered nurses around the clock.
Why does a clinic show as open but turn me away?
Vancouver walk-in clinics cap the number of patients they register each session. Once the queue fills, the clinic stops taking new patients even though the door is still open. This commonly happens one to two hours before posted closing. Phoning ahead is the only reliable way to know.
